For 30 years, I cut off my fabric selvages and threw them away. Today, fabric designers are adding clever sayings, text and images to selvages (i.e. Tula Pink's "16th Century Selfie" and Kendra Dandy's "Bouffants and Broken Hearts" come to mind). They're just too, too cute not to use. Modern Selvage Quilting is a very clever book. The tips for sewing with fabric selvages are well explained and illustrated. And while the patterns are fairly easy, they produce dramatic results. When I want to make a quilt as a gift, this is my go-to book.
