I'm giving this 4 stars because I could not stand the female lead. She was just ridiculous to me, fighting the guy wants the best for you and your family, but you take abuse from the person who clearly doesn't have the family's best interest at heart and you allow them to keep trampling all over you and your kids. I just don't like female characters like that. maybe it's just as simple as you are able to get away with doing that because you know the people will not hurt you and that's a way of gaining some type of Independence. I do apologize and I don't mean to offend anyone with my review.

I really enjoyed this story!! True love and evil really do exist! This one is packed with emotion and steam, and yes, it made the tears come. When an abused woman goes through the unthinkable trying to protect her kids the man who cares about her steps up and declares her and her kids belong with him and are now under his protection. His family. Macy and her family had been through so much and Alec and Joss are just what she and her kids need. Her ex, pure evil! He put them through some ruff emotional abuse. May be triggers for some. HEA.

I really enjoyed the book, Macy annoyed me a bit with her "kill them with kindness" attitude at the beginning but it didn't completely take away from the story. Alec was a perfect male lead, I fell in love with his character the more I read. The children had amazing character arc's. I just love all the characters in this book and how the story progressed. Haven't read a good book like this in a while. I'll definitely be checking out Riley Edwards other books.
