Flinders: The man who mapped Australia is an apt total, for here is a man, along with his crew managed to map the continent of Australia under extreme difficulties. If you do not like a lot of detail this book is not for you. Due to the excessive attention to detail, the book, in parts became tedious. Overall throw, the book was an easy and enjoyable read. What I enjoyed most about the book there was a considerable number of titbits of history that I was not aware of i.e. 1802 while sailing east, Flinders sighted the Géographe at Encounter Bay South Australia, a French ship, who was on a similar expedition. Flinders met and exchanged details with its captain Baudin sharing details of their discoveries.
