About this ebook

Metal Detecting is Easy

Finding New Places that are Old & Forgotten is the Tricky Part…

If we all had a Treasure Map then this would be too easy and there would be no buried Treasure left to go out and find. My guide will help you create your own real treasure map.

I quickly learned about 6 months after I started metal detecting that I need to do something different. I have hunted the beaches, hunted all kinds of parks and every school yard within 30 miles, I want to hunt something different. I wanted to hunt something really old; I want to hunt somewhere that would give me the chance to find something worth bragging about on all the Social Media outlets. I wanted to find relics that have a story.

I was so tired of reading and seeing all the pictures on Facebook and other social media outlets about these great finds from the 1800’s or even older, why can’t I dig up something like what other people seem to be finding?

So I started researching about old places and the history right here in my own zip code, I was shocked at what I was quickly learning about my own city. I couldn't believe how much history had taken place within a few miles from my own front porch. Even though I grew up here, I most have forgotten about all the land marks that I have passed by over the last 40 years, tunnel vision as most would call it.

So after finding all kinds of new hunting places, I did what anyone else would do these days, I created a group page on Facebook and I started posting information and the pictures of all the new locations I had found to go out and hunt.

Next thing I know, I have over 600 followers. Then people started posting request for me to help find Old & Forgotten places where they lived. I started posting those new places for them to go out and hunt. Then I started to get even more request on a daily basis.

A lot of the new requests were coming in as a private message asking me if I “would not post the info I had found publicly”. We Treasure Hunters DO NOT like to share information about a great location; hmmmm seems when we do share a location, everyone shows up with a Metal Detector looking for buried Treasure.

After getting more request then I could get to on a daily bases, someone had asked me if I had an eBook or any kind of Instructable guide, which could show them how to Research and Locate Old and Forgotten Places.

What a Great Idea…

So here is my complete step by step guide on how to research online, using several FREE interactive tools and websites available to anyone. I would also like to add, there is nothing to sign up for or purchase with the websites and online resources I use.  By following my Guide, I explain in great detail how to use each of these FREE tools available. When you use these tools in conjunction with each other, you will see that you have a complete arsenal of information that will help anyone locate new hunting places quickly.

Let the hunt begin…

If you need a book to tell you how to use basic online search tools such as Google or Wikipedia, this may be for you. If you don't, just common-sense google your location of interest and you will have pretty much the sum of information to be gleaned here. I feel ripped off.

We learned about this book from a Metal Detecting talk show that did a short interview with the author. This book has already helped us find 2 new locations that we now believe date back to the late 1800’s. The best part is they are both within a 30 minute drive or less from our house. This guide is almost two easy to follow. It is very simply written with very simple steps on how to use the free tools and maps that have been available to us all along. You mentioned on the talk show, this was your first book, Congrats. We would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to go out and metal detect.
