About this ebook

In the Other Side of Nowhere, Ottawa poet Rob Thomas re-imagines the poem as vehicle of transit and transience. The result is a quirky and visually compelling landscape of fire, snowflakes, a shopping mall, and precious debris. En route he pays homage to the City of Ottawa and the ever lurking promise of renewal—but tells it slant (or how it truly isn't). This chapbook is a trip.

This is Rob Thomas's follow-up to his first chapbook "Brood." Once again Rob is writing about his family, writing about his city (Ottawa). We join him on his adventure as he follows the train tracks that lead us to myriad of destinations (behind the thrift store, the Rideau Centre, Lansdowne, his kitchen). He shares his humourous and honest observations with us about the state of things - he is an astronaut taking notes. Hop on this bus and take a quick ride, you will be glad you did.

About the author

Rob Thomas lives in Ottawa with his beautiful family, really. He likes the city and his in-laws (mostly), and swears much

less often than the poems here might suggest. He received the John Newlove Poetry Award in 2013 and published a

chapbook, Brood, the following year. His stories and poems have appeared in Broken Pencil, The Feathertale Review,

subTerrain, Grain and elsewhere.
