If you like sci-fi with a dash echii that is light hearted and you do not care that the MC seems to be building a harem and he sleeps with them. The story does not go into details of his sexual escapades but you know that they happen. This is not an issue for me, but it may be an issue for others. I am fine with harems and knowing that people have sex is not a big deal for me, since I am a grandpa. :-) Females serving on a ship with a male captain == Mistress to captain...

not that I don't like a person finding themselves in a world of magic and monsters, buy this is a nice change in events. space ships, cute aliens, and one guy on a epic quest for a soda

This is going to raise your standards. really high, though it may feel like childish but the actual involvement of our emotions in this book is enormous.
