About this ebook

Jacob Jacobs stepped up to run the family winery after his parents were killed. It’s not just any old winery, Jacob’s Estate is one of biggest brands in the industry.

These days he’s a respected winemaker, successful CEO, and Napa’s most eligible bachelor. He’s lived up to all three of those titles, too - especially that last one. He’s used to being pursued by beautiful women – and he enjoys their company. At least, he used to.

Maybe it’s because he has a landmark birthday coming up, but lately he’s grown tired of the life he’s been living. He can have all the company he wants. But what he really wants is the company of family.

He’s thrilled that his sister has come home to live on the estate. With the help of his new niece, Ava, he’s discovering how much fun family life can be.

Becca Taylor followed her boyfriend to Napa. She was lucky to land a job as a third-grade teacher and was eager to start a new life. Just a few months later, she’s alone in a new town, with no boyfriend, no friends – and not much of a life. She stayed because she made a commitment to the children she works with, but when the school year is over, she’ll have to head home to Kansas and admit that her parents were right.

She’s making the most of her life in Napa while she’s there, though. She’s been forcing herself to go out and do things. She made a deal with herself that she’d accept any invitation that was offered to her. It might not be much fun by herself, but it beats sitting at home alone.

When one of her favorite pupils, Ava, invites her to a Christmas tree lighting event at the Jacob’s estate, Becca has no idea that her life is about to get turned on its head. She doesn’t know much about wine, and even less about winemakers – but Ava’s Uncle Jacob has her eager to learn more.

acob Jacobs, a known respected winemaker and alpha bachelor, has been pursued by beautiful women for many years. He recently has had no interest and an unfulfilled life. He wants to settle down and try to find a family of his own. At a Christmas tree lighting, he agreed to help his niece, Ava, who recently lost her mother, light the tree at the Jacob’s Estate. He glances across the audience and his eyes zone in on Becca Taylor, Ava’s teacher. He had no idea who she was, but their instant attraction, made Uncle Jacob wanting to learn more about her. Becca had moved to Napa from a farm area in Kansas, with her boyfriend, to teach. He soon left her and Napa behind, plus leaving huge debts she couldn’t handle anymore. She decided to finish the school year and then return home to Kansas. Jacob’s instant connection and feelings for Becca couldn’t be denied and she was cautious because she was a farm girl who knew nothing about wine or the lifestyle of the Jacobs family. This is a beautifully written book that deals with life’s struggles, family dynamics, and an surreal attraction for two great people. The book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Cognac and cornflowers continues the stories of characters introduced in previous books in the series. SJ skillfully weaves her magic and delivers yet again a book that grips us,the readers, from the opening words to the very last semicolon. No need for me to summarise the book, it is well covered elsewhere, but suffice to say, I thoroughly recommend that any new readers read this book as a standalone.... then I suspect they'll read the previous books in this series. But ,hey, there are other books in other series that SJ has written, all brilliant in their own right but as a whole ,each series delivers . Enjoy

About the author

Hi, I'm SJ, a coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.

I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.

I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.

These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)
