Scarlet zieht zu ihrem Adoptivvater nach Pembroke. Dort angekommen, findet sie sofort Anschluss bei fünf Mädchen, die alle lustig und lieb zu ihr sind. Leider lernt sie auch den Rabauken Johnny kennen, der ihr ab dem ersten Schultag zu schaffen macht. Ein anderer Schüler ist der geheimnisvolle Luis, der von allen nur Silence genannt wird, weil er nie ein Wort sagt. Aus ihm wird Scarlet eine Zeit lang nicht schlau. Merkwürdigerweise bekommt Scarlet plötzlich seltsame Visionen und irgendwie hat Luis mit all dem zu tun, oder? Fogwood ist ein rätselhafter Wald, über den man sagt, er beherberge angeblich böse Wölfe, die ihr Unwesen treiben und auf Erlösung warten.
