Ratings and reviews

3.5 stars — Ms. Mayberry is definitely a favourite author of mine, and while I could see touches of what I love about her writing in this novella, in the end I just didn’t connect with Tara and Reid as much as I was hoping. Both of our MCs were solid people, and I genuinely liked them both. You could feel how much they cared for one another as partners and friends. I felt like the attraction was a bit more show than tell, and so the chemistry wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. It was like, their move from friends to more was kind of startling and abrupt, and I didn’t get those tummy butterflies I was looking for. I did end up settling into the romance for the last 20%, but I was missing the build up. I wonder if this had been a full length novel instead of a novella if I would have had the time with them I was hoping for. Ah well, they can’t all be matches.
