This collection of essays is the first book published in English to provide a thorough survey of the practices of science in the Spanish and Portuguese empires from 1500 to 1800. Paula De Vos is Associate Professor of Latin American History at San Diego State University. Kristin Huffine is Assistant Professor of Latin American history at Northern Illinois University.Kevin Sheehan is currently writing his doctoral dissertation in history at the University of California, Berkeley.
