About this eBook

He’s a player. But she’s about to score.

Opposites really do attract* as a sassy salesgirl turns a pro athlete’s life upside down in this supercharged standalone novel of seduction from the author of Bossed.

Kelsey: My mom would tell you I’m quite the catch, but since my last boyfriend, I haven’t been dating much. Maybe it’s my rocker style or my lack of filter that intimidates the boys. So I’m pleasantly surprised when Matt Stallworth waltzes into the indie record store where I work and gives as good he gets. Turns out Matt is a professional baseball player, which should mean he’s out of my league. But if he wants to hook up with me, he’s going to have to follow my rules.

Matt: After winning my MVP award, I learned that a guy can get used to having beautiful women practically throw themselves at you everywhere you turn. But everything changes the first time I see Kelsey Martin, and something just clicks. She’s hot, snarky, and whip-smart. I’ve got to see her again. Only problem is, she sees right through all my best moves. And I’m going to have to step up my game to convince Kelsey that I’m playing for keeps.

*And sexy times ensue—for mature audiences.

This one was just an ok read for me which is sad because I was really looking forward to Matt's story. It was light, easy, and definitely steamy. Maybe a little too steamy. The steam seemed to interfere with the story really developing. For me the story never had that moment where you knew these two were meant for each other and would make it. Matt and Kelsey are both great characters and I would have liked to have seen their story be a little more dramatic. This really isn't a bad story I was just hoping for a little more

3.5 Stars I haven't read Bossed but I didn't feel lost by jumping in with Scored. Matt is a professional baseball player. He's played in his hometown for his entire career and now that he's a free agent, he has some big decisions to make. Kelsey has had a ton of bad luck with men that has left her mostly distrustful. Matt is nothing like her regular type of guitar playing music enthusiasts but his persistence to give them a chance eventually breaks her down. Matt's pursuit of Kelsey made his such an endearing character. I like Kelsey and their chemistry. There was just something about this book that didn't click with me. I liked it but I can't put my finger on why I didn't love it. The characters are cute and the book was a pretty quick read. *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*

**Advanced copy provided by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review** After reading Bossed, the first in this series by Sloane Howell, I was anxious to get my hands on Scored. I was not disappointed! While this book is the second in the series, and reading the first will help with some backstory, it wouldn't be absolutely necessary to still enjoy this book. Matt Stallworth is a professional baseball player and while he's definitely an alpha male, he's a little bit different than what we normally see and that was refreshing. He is more down-to-earth, humble, is very into charitable causes and he's unselfish. And, he's had his eyes on Kelsey for some time now. Kelsey Martin is the friend of Matt's best friend's fiance and that is how the two originally met. Kelsey is a quirky, snarky, music-loving record store employee who is very guarded when it comes to matters of the heart. She's been hurt in the past and the last thing she wants is to be put in that position again. When Matt and Kelsey finally get together, their chemistry is undeniable and they are a great match because Kelsey gives as good as she gets. Not to mention they burn up the sheets in the bedroom! Will the fact that Matt doesn't come clean about what is going on with him derail the fragile relationship they have forged? It took me a bit to get into this book for some reason. I think I had a bit of a tough time connecting with Kelsey at first, but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the story and I always enjoy Sloane Howell's writing so much. I enjoyed this entertaining and witty read.
