Self -doubt, sadness and a little bit of hopeful fantasy guides readers through a romance that is uniquely sweet and irresistible to the hidden romantic in us all. Carol is a woman with a ton of baggage but a huge amount of heart. She showers love on the animals she welcomes into her home, but wishes for someone to call her own. Mathias is a man that sees beauty, where others don't bother to look. He creates beauty using his mind, his heart and his hands. Can he allow his creative optimism to guide him in matters of the heart? I loved this story of second chances and true love. Mathias and his brothers have all suffered an abusive father and are confused about love. He doesn't want it. He is a glass artist. Carol is his neighbor and game keeper. A wonderful, generous, smart and loving woman who wants it all. Love, family and a companion giraffe. The rest of the story is pure magic. Funny, sad and beautiful. Great dialogue, great writing and a wonderfully woven tale. Second in the Happily Inc. series.

Second Chance Girl by Susan Mallery Carol and Mathias are the main characters, a second set of characters also get their story in this book Violet and Ulrich. Violet is Carol's sister and I thought it was a great way to make the book more interesting to tell two love stories at once. The main focus of the book is on Carol and Mathias, Carol is basically an animal warden for the animal rescue area that touches up against Mathias property. Mathias is an artist who is hiding his real talent making beautiful dishes. They join together to try and raise enough money for more giraffes because the lone giraffe needs company and they fall in love. It is a great story and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great book.
