Lily Danville's life is crumbling around her. With no money and no home, her only choice is to go back to the one town she swore she'd never see again: Cedar Ridge, Colorado. Back to the memories of her sister's tragic death. Back to the place where, ten years ago, she shared an unforgettable kiss with Aidan Kincaid-the man her sister once loved.

A new job at the town's hottest resort is just the fresh start Lily has been looking for...until she discovers the resort is owned by none other than the Kincaid family. How can she possibly see Aidan every day without feeling as if she's betraying her sister?

But as secrets from the past come to light and Lily starts to realize the truth, she can only hope it's not too late to find love, family, and forgiveness.

I love each and every series from Jill Shalvis. I was so sad to see the end of the Lucky Harbor series happen, but was super excited when I read we would get a new series and I loved the first book in the Cedar Ridge series so much. I have to say I loved both Lily and Aidan from the moment we met them both. Aidan loves to take care of everyone in his life and has always been the one to try and protect his family and friends. Lily pulled at every single one of my heartstrings. She really was such a strong character and has been living with the unnecessary guilt from her sister's death for 10 years. I really felt like Lily had no chance of finally coming to terms with her sister's death until she came back to Cedar Ridge. I also think she really needed to be around Aidan again to help move forward, as she left town and him behind with no warning after her sister died. I loved that Lily and Aidan had major chemistry from the moment they saw each other again. Lily continuing to say she was only in town until she could find a new job pretty much killed me as I could tell that Aidan still loved her and I didn't want him to get hurt again. I also love the family dynamics between Aidan, his brothers and his sister. I loved they are all so protective of one another, with Aidan being the most protective of everyone. I love reading about a small town, family run business and the Cedar Ridge lodge run by the Kincaid family is the perfect setting. I absolutely loved Aidan and Lily's romance and can't wait to see the rest of the Kincaid family find their own happily ever after. Second Chance Summer was an awesome start to the new Cedar Ridge series from Jill Shalvis. Fans of Jill Shalvis will be happy to have a new small town series after leaving Lucky Harbor, and new reader will quickly see why her fans fall in love with each of her books.

Lilly Danville had to get away from Cedar Ridge after the death of her sister then, very quickly, her father. When she left she also left behind Aidan Kincaid. She moved to San Diego where she was a successful beautician. After 10 years there she lost her job and was black listed in that area. An old friend gave her a job but it was back in Cedar Ridge. Not only that but at the resort Aidan's family owns. Aidan is now a firefighter and volunteers for Search and Rescue. He is stunned to learn Lilly is back especially since he still has feeling for her. But she doesn't plan on staying so he can't risk his heart. I loved the characters in this book. Being about Lilly and Aiden they were the most developed characters. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Lilly and all she went through both in Cedar Ridge and San Diego. Aiden always wanted to help others which is why his jobs were perfect for him. He was a gorgeous, sexy man which drew me to him even more. His siblings and mother helped move the story along by always meddling in each other's business. What a great family! But the writing in general was terrific. I easily followed the plot and pictured the town. It left me wanting to visit the lodge and hike the trails. I really liked that there were several laugh out loud spots in the story. This was a captivating, enjoyable novel that was a joy to read. It is definitely one that should make its way into the libraries of all romance lovers.

What a rush! I was laughing hysterically and crying like a baby in turns. Shalvis mixes some very suspense packed and danger filled moments that had my heart in my throat with some of the most introspective, emotional scenes I’ve ever read. Everything was all so vividly real. This novel is a fantastic example of what a second chance romance should be. Emotions run high as readers encounter some of life’s most difficult tragedies, all the while being wrapped in the safe cocoon of budding romance. Shalvis brings Colorado to life even for those of us who haven’t been there. The beauty of the area shines through in her writing. When you pair a hometown alpha hero with the girl next door returned home you’re sure to have some sparks, but the genuinely romantic & heartfelt relationship that these two fight against was epic. I love how there are convergences and divergences in their histories that are filled in for the reader throughout. Both of the main characters have a misguided belief that they caused catastrophe for their respective families and won’t forgive themselves for it. It’s an enriching similarity between the two, even if they don’t see it themselves. Shalvis’ well-rounded character development doesn’t stop with her main characters either. Getting to know Aiden’s family was a laugh and a half. These are some individuals that I truly can’ It’s always so much fun to delve into a new series by an author you enjoy. This one is no exception! Shalvis has done a fantastic job of setting the backdrop for the rest of the series while at the same time telling a story you won’t soon forget. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
