Familiar to tourists at Buckingham Palace, the Coldstream Guards are also a fully operational combat unit. The regiment played a key role at Blenheim and Waterloo, fought at Monmouth in the American Revolution, served in both World Wars and is frequently deployed on short notice to the world's trouble spots even today.
