About this eBook

See through the complicated is a collection of poems that represent a journey towards hope. Life comes with a lot of ups and downs and situations that are sometimes too complicated to comprehend. Sometimes, because of the many downs we may fail to see the ups. To sail through the hardships, we need to believe that it will be alright, we may need to be told that it will be alright. We may need to be told that we can do better than wait and that someone understands and cares; that they have been through it before, that we are not alone. Sometimes we need only to look past ourselves, see someone elses life and appreciate our own. In See through the complicated you get to see through my world and situations I know of. I do not hold back, for through writing this, I found my hope. And as the author, my hope is that you relate to one or two poems and somewhere within this, you find hope.

About the author

Neema is a daughter, a sister, a friend and a proud aunt. I love my family; they keep me grounded and always have faith in me. I grew up in Dar-es Salaam, Tanzania with my brothers, sisters and cousins. I moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2009 to study and chase big dreams. I am an accounting and financial management majors; I love the mystery in numbers. I hope to one day be a financial analyst. I love African, Jamaican, Mexican and Chinese food (except frog legs) and find it hard to stick to a diet. I love literature. I remember reading The Torn Veil by Danquah Mabel, and feeling like writing could really give a voice to those without any. When it comes to poetry, I love Shakespeare and hip hop. In my free time I like to dance and sing (in the shower), watching movies and reading. I’m an ordinary girl that wishes to make a difference one day. That wishes to be remembered long after she is gone. I met pen and paper when I was 12 years old and they became my best friend. Through writing I found my release and freedom. I found that peaceful place I could go and be completely me, without fear of being left out or laughed at.
