It went from mostly hard-science epic (which I enjoyed a lot) into full blown sci-fi (which I barely tolerated). I felt invested in the narrative which kept me pushing through to the end but some parts with excessive details felt like too much of a chore. Overall I'm glad to have read it.

This book is fast and full of technical jargon that is explained many times. With all the research that went into this book the easiest one to check wasn't done because people keep misquoting it. They likened the it to The Ark on earth where the animals went in two by two. In fact the animals went in seven at a time. It was only the unclean animals that went in two by two. I liked the first section of the book but I got a little lost when it jumped thousands of years to the future. I didn't know who they were talking about. Whether it be the people from the space station, the people from the cave or the people from the submarine. Why did they have pictures at the end when I had already got a picture in my mind which wasn't like the picture at all.

A three part cataclysm book, with wildly different tones, about the exodus to, then living in space, and the aftermath of prolonged habitation above earth. A fantastic read. I only wish there was more, but not for lack of length of the tale. Thank you, Neal.
