The third book in the Shadow Rider series is a fantastic read that I was unable to put down until I had read every last word. This thrilling new paranormal world is full of wonderful characters that are strong, sexy and captivating, easily drawing readers in and holding them hostage until the very end. Giovanni and Sasha are the hero and heroine of Shadow Keeper and they have some strong sizzling chemistry that leaps off the pages and captures the reader’s attention from the get go. The romance is sweet but full of heated passion as well as emotional turbulence as Sasha is introduced to Giovanni’s world of secrets and danger, which means Giovanni has his work cut out for him as he tries to win her heart while keeping her safe. This fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge with lots of thrilling danger that gets the adrenaline pumping and surprising twists and turns so that there is never a dull moment to be found. And to make it even more suspenseful, Giovanni must determine if he has been betrayed by one he trusted which adds to the emotional turmoil and the uncertainty facing this couple. So far, I have to say that Christine Feehan has another spectacular series going. She makes all her worlds come alive for her readers as well as making all her wonderful characters vibrant and life like. I can always get lost in her stories and never doubt that I am going to love it, which is why I tend to read them over and over again. Each of her Shadow Riders stories have an intense feel to them and have some unique elements that make them different from other paranormal stories and I can’t wait to read the next one.

4.5 stars---SHADOW KEEPER is the third instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult SHADOW RIDERS erotic, paranormal romance series focusing on a species of humans- The Ferraro Family- that are able to ‘use and ride’ shadows, to move about in secret. This is Giovanni Ferraro, and cocktail waitress Sasha Provis’s story line. SHADOW KEEPER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. SOME BACKGROUND: The Shadow rider male must find his –a woman who is capable of riding the shadows-or at the very least with the ability to bear children with the shadow-riding gene. Within the family, the Ferraro siblings are tasked with finding a mate, fated by DNA, who is capable of continuing the family line. Told from several third person perspectives including Sasha and Giovanni SHADOW KEEPER follows the building relationship between Giovanni Ferraro, and cocktail waitress Sasha Provis. To the public and the paparazzi Giovanni Ferraro is the family playboy, a role he despises since the shooting that left him unable to ‘ride the shadows’ but a role that keeps the spotlight away from the family business. Meeting Sasha Provis, the newest cocktail waitress at the family owned club, pulled at more than our hero’s heart but at their mutual shadows the began to intertwine. When several MMA fighters turned their attentions to Sasha Provis, Giovanni knew he had to protect the woman with whom he would fall in love. What ensues is the building and fated romance between Sasha and Giovanni, as the Ferraro family come together to protect one of their own. Sasha Provis is a feisty, independent heroine who struggles to take care of her elder brother since the car accident that left him a shell of his former self. Alone but well aware of her surroundings Sasha and her shadow will cross paths with her future, a man as dangerous and powerful as he is beautiful. The relationship is intimate, erotic, intense and provocative. There is some light bondage and rope play. All of Giovanni’s sibling play secondary and supporting roles, as well as a number of cousins, who use the shadows as they work for the family business, meting out justice for those unable to protect themselves. The Ferraro family is a tight-knit, fiercely protective family unwilling to risk the lives of the people they love including those under the protection in the Ferraro territory. Christine Feehan does an incredible job creating the intricate, and secretive world of the ‘shadow riders’. The premise is intriguing, edgy and energetic; the characters are inspiring and colorful; the romance is seductive and dramatic. SHADOW KEEPER is an engaging, enjoyable and imaginative look at the paranormal.

I love the series but I am a little frustrated with this book. To the Ferreros, protecting family and their secrets are the most important thing they do. And they will protect the family at all costs, by using any means necessary. Even if that means playing like rich promiscuous playboys to the paparazzi. Giovanni—like all the Ferraros—is a shadow rider. They ride the shadows and dispense justice for those who can’t get it by legal means. To become a shadow rider, you must be born of two shadow riders. Giovanni and all the Ferraro siblings must find a shadow rider to marry and have children. If they don’t find “the one” for them, they will be forced into an arranged marriage with another shadow rider. So, when Giovanni’s shadow connects with the new waitress at the night club he owns, he’s hell bent on finding out who this woman is and if she could possibly be the one made for him. I didn’t care much for Giovanni and Sasha together. I felt their relationship went WAY too fast and didn’t develop organically. After a while, I was skimming through their scenes to read about the other characters in the book. Which was unfortunate because I really, REALLY wanted to like them. At the end of the story, a few things didn’t get reconciled, which was also frustrating to me. My experience with SHADOW KEEPER wasn’t all bad. Sasha has a heartbreaking backstory and her motivations for working in a night club are as noble as you can get. I was easily able to empathize with her in that aspect. I also loved more page time with Francesca and Stefano (Book 1) and the rest of the Ferraro siblings. And the only Ferraro sister, Emmanuelle. Poor girl is in love with the son of an enemy family. I can’t wait for her book! SHADOW KEEPER kept me entertained as well as frustrated. I think my review is a little biased because I loved the first book so much. Each book that precedes, I’m more critical of because I’m looking for the magic I experienced in the beginning of the series. I invite you to experience that same magic by picking up one of Christine Feehan’s books. ***I voluntarily read an advanced copy of the book generously offered by Berkley Romance through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***
