Shadows of the Empire illuminates the shadowy outlines of a criminal conspiracy that exists in the background of the events in the movies, ruled by a character new to us. Prince Xizor is a mastermind of evil who dares to oppose one of the best-known fictional villains of all time: Darth Vader. The story involves all the featured Star Wars movie characters, plus Emperor Palpatine and, of course, Lord Vader himself.

Features a bonus section following the novel that includes a primer on the Star Wars expanded universe, and over half a dozen excerpts from some of the most popular Star Wars books of the last thirty years!

This was one of the first Star Wars novels I read back in the late 90's. A brilliantly written book by Steve Perry, creating a conflict with existing characters while creating new characters that seamlessly fit within the story. The title says top ten but this is easily top three

I highly recommend this book, it provides great depth of the Star Wars universe between the 5th and 6th movie. A full adventure featuring Dash Rendar, Darth Vader, Black Prince Xizor, Luke Skywalker I loved the game as well as this novel, a great read for any Star Wars fan.

This book is a story for a much younger generation. If I was a kid I would give it four stars. It lacks the Star Wars charm. However the writer had a huge challange to come up with a story to take place between The Empier Srikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
