How do two people who have experienced extreme loss in their lives, overcome the pain and the adversity from the past? Luann McLane shows this in Shape of My Heart. Maggie Murphy is an author that writes books about giving girls and young women strength and knowledge in becoming their best selves. She was bullied when she was younger, and then the ugly duckling became a beautiful swan, and she never really trusted guys because she wanted to be valued for more than her looks. She has moved to Florida, because it was always her dream to move to Florida. But she misses her mother and grandmother, who have been the base for her foundation since her father left them when she was younger. Jimmy Heart is a member of a boy band with his brothers. The group is called Heartbeat. Growing up as part of a boy band, he didn’t have the normal growing pains of growing up, dating, and flirting. So he feels a little out of his depths when dealing with women in general. Trixie, the puppy brings Maggie and Jimmy together. They are neighbors, and Trixie’s barking keeps Jimmy from being able to work on the song that he has been struggling with for the past month. Maggie knows who Jimmy is, but asks as though she doesn’t. She doesn’t want to fangirl all over Jimmy, but he and Heartbeat helped her when she was a young girl, just trying to make it through the days of meanness growing up. This book was so cute. I really loved how their love story developed. The supporting characters were great, stealing the show a bit. Five stars **Review by Nikki, Late Night Reviewer for Up All Night w/ Books**
