About the author

Shelly Marshall is the author and compiler of the popular meditation books Day by Day, for recovering alcoholics and addicts, and Young, Sober, & Free, for young adults in recovery. Having beaten her own alcoholism, she has spent the past thirty years working with people in recovery. She has a thriving consulting practice, lectures extensively, and hosts recovery Web sites. She is the founder of the Cortez Community Mission Detox Center in Colorado and helped found the Hand of Hope halfway house in Denver. She also helped found the Social Academy addiction educational institution in Moscow and is currently the NGO representative to the United Nations for the NAN (No to Alcoholism and Drug Addiction) Foundation in Russia.
