About this ebook

Centuries ago, Illarion was betrayed– a dragon made human against his will, then forced to serve humanity as a dragonmount in their army, and to fight for them in barbaric wars, even while he hated everything about them. Enslaved and separated from everyone he knew and from his own dragon brothers, he was forced into exile in a fey realm where he lost the only thing he ever really loved.
Now he has a chance to regain what’s been lost— to have the one thing he covets most. But only if he gives up his brothers and forsakes the oaths he holds most dear. Yet what terrifies him most isn’t the cost his happiness might incur, it’s the fact that there is just enough human in his dragon’s heart that he might actually be willing to pay it and betray everything and everyone– to see the entire world burn in Dragonmark, the next blockbuster Dark-Hunter novel by #1 New York Timesbestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon.

I have followed these books for years and I have loved every one of them .... until now. I don't write reviews but this book made me so angry. At least 80% of this book was taken from the last one. While I could see re-writing the chapters into Illarion's perspective that did not happen. The chapters were taken word for word. The new parts of the book were very good and gave new perspective on the main characters but that may have been just a quarter of the book. In the end the good parts of the book were not good enough to warrant me liking this book. Truly disappointed.

About 100 pages of this book is word by word repetition of Dragonbane...a parallel story about the main character's brother. I get that the story overlaps and intertwine but I'm reading pretty much the same conversation between all the characters with no added insight. I've skipped pages of this book. This was lazy editing and lazy writing. I'm truly disappointed because the author has done such a good job intertwining the stories with her other books. Most of the good reviews are probably from readers who have not read the preceding books. I feel so cheated. I paid full price for half of a story.

I feel cheated! I paid good money for half a story/book! The other half was Dragonsbane and Son of No One, combined. I am now leary of buying any more Dragon series books. I love all her series, however, the Dragon books, other than Dragonsbane, have left me feeling cold and disillusioned with Sherrilyn Kenyon of late! Please, please go back to the way you were writing before! We, your devout fans, implore you! #writeon
