About this eBook

You know what's even better than marrying a billionaire? Having his baby.

We're ready. We've studied and planned, read all the birth and labor books, researched parenting classes, consulted our schedules, and it's time.

And by we I mean me.

Declan's just ready for the "have lots of sex" part. More than ready.

But there's just one problem: my husband and his brother have this little obsession with competition.

And by little, I mean stupid.

That's right.

We're not just about to try to bring a new human being into the world.

We have to do it better, Faster, Stronger.

Harder.

McCormick men don't just have babies.

They engage in competitive billionaire Babythons.

I thought the hardest part about getting pregnant would be dealing with my grandchild-crazed mother, who will go nuts shopping for a billionaire's baby.

Wrong.

Between conception issues, my mother's desire to talk to the baby through a hoo-haw cam, a childbirth class led by a drill sergeant and a father-in-law determined to sign the kid up for prep school before Declan even pulls out, my pregnancy has turned out to be one ordeal after the other.

But it's nothing -- nothing -- compared to the actual birth.

I have to start by saying I am not up-to-date on the Shopping for a Billionaire series, I had hoped to be, but life. However, although it's a continuation and book 13, I didn't feel that I'd missed out when reading this book - we hear about some things that happen in past books and it just made me want to catch up with those books. I love Julia Kent's writing style. It captures the reader's attention, pulls them into the story and keeps them invested until the very last page. The way she blends humour and emotion is a skill. I never fail to fall about laughing at the hilarious moments and there are plenty of them, and then cry at the emotional ones too. It really is a wonderful way to pass the hours, I really need to find more time to spend with Julia's characters - they brighten my day. I really love the covers for this series, and this book's cover is no exception. It's eye-catching and just really sweet. This book is hilarious, so many laugh out loud moments. It's also quite emotional, for me at least, I think anyone that has tried to conceive will be able to empathise with these characters and what they're going through. I was able to identify with Shannon more in this book than any of the others I've read in the series. (No! We're not going to mention the phone down the toilet debacle). Conception is a touchy subject and I think it was handled with grace, care, and compassion. Not only showing the difficulties but also finding the humour in situations and how it can bring people together. It was beautiful to read. These characters are freaking hilarious! I love them so much. Shannon's mother is one of the best fictional women ever! Shannon and Declan are such a wonderful couple and having spent a fair few hours with them and their story. It's so great to see them progressing through their happily ever again. Watching them grow together, and make the decision to expand their family, and all the ups and downs that entails. Declan has many swoon-worthy moments, I always forget just how charming he is, but he soon reminds me.

I guessed the baby's name right a few months ago when a guessing game was being played in one of the Kent games on Facebook. That definitely made me happy. This was legitimately a hard review for me to write because this is one of my favorite series, and I knew I was going to struggle with giving it 3 stars. It took me almost all day (literally over 12 hours) to read this book, because I had to keep stopping myself to think about what parts I would comment on in my review, which parts I wouldn't, and how strongly I felt about those parts. There are many amazing things about this book that I adored. Thirteen books into the series, you know if you're still reading what you are going to get. Kent's humor is still present, Shannon and Declan's love is more touching and unique to them than ever before, and THERE'S A BABY. And that baby's delivery story...is pretty Shannon and Declan style. There are things you know will happen: Marie has a yoga instructor related fiasco that is SO VERY Marie, and that so very badly embarrasses Shannon, but it's hysterical. Andrew and Declan's competitive streak shows it's face. There were things I didn't quite expect (but liked). I really appreciated the growth in both Marie and James as they recognized and acknowledged some of their own parenting flaws. There were things I didn't quite expect (but DIDN'T like). Terry and Greg both kept passing mentions. (Greg is mentioned in one sentence as a person at the baby shower, Terry get's a total of three sentences.) Greg this isn't as much of a bother to me as Terry is. He's about to be an uncle. And speaking of uncles...Andrew's only concern is how much more sex Declan is getting? There's NOTHING about what kind of uncle he'll try to be? Both Shannon and Declan come from families with siblings...we hear them talk about how they'll model their parenting after their parents, but not how ANY of the siblings want to be as aunts and uncles? Felt really odd to me, though I acknowledge Amanda, as best friend and aunt, makes her opinions known. And then there was the "political for the sake of being political" sections placed. Sections added in that really and truly didn't fit the story that were clearly only their to bring up the topics, but then don't have much (if any) follow-up later. The time Declan notices that Shannon is treated significantly differently than him because she's a woman in the workforce, but then the conversation never progresses past that scene. The time Declan receives a call from HR that leads to him finding out the employee is not cisgender, which I might not have felt was a political move for the sake of being political if the employee wasn't just transferring from another department (as in, this would have previously been noted by HR). It's Shannon's nephew asking Marie if she got Chuckle's consent before putting him in costumes because he's "learning about consent at school", but then there being zero follow through with it. Like there were great statements that could have been made, but instead these little lines just needed to be dropped in. If they had just been expanded on...

This may be book 13 in the Shopping for a Billionaire Series but that doesn’t mean it can’t be read as a stand-alone or as your first introduction to this brilliant series. Are Declan and Shannon finally growing up and are they at last going to get everything right.... off course not this couple’s road to happiness has always had it ups and downs and why would starting a baby be any different, this book follows them from trying to conceive to birth and boy do they have some fun along the way. We also get to catch up with the other guys from previous books that we have all fallen in love with, in saying that I will say again this book can be read as a stand-alone. Have we come to the end of the road with this series, I really hope not because I would love to see this couple dealing with parenthood because I know Julia Kent would be able give us her own special type of humour mixed with toddler’s how funny would that be. This book will make you laugh, it will make you smile but it will also make you think about the seriousness and the things women do when they feel their biological clock is ticking to fast. Loved this book and I really hope there’s more to come from Shopping for a Billionaire.
