The most long-lasting and enduring relationship an individual can develop is with a sibling. Considering the closeness in age and early association of siblings, they can bond for a lifetime. Psychologists are beginning to appreciate the sibling link and its dynamic role in a child's social development. Avidan Milevsky is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in child, adolescent, and lifespan developmental psychology. He serves as director of the Center for Parenting Research and is a psychotherapist at Wellspring Counseling in Towson, Maryland.
