This is a fabulous new romantic suspense series. I have previously read the sweeter small town books from Kait Nolan (now writing suspense as Harper Jackson), and I am thrilled that this new series is just as satisfying and enjoyable, but with added complexity, drama and intrigue. In this first book, Hoyt and Caroline have to deal with a series of arson fires, and escalating danger and mystery, which bring this island community and this gripping story to life. I can’t wait for more!!

These characters are so rich and vibrant; and the setting is so unique, it almost becomes another character. I was immediately caught up in their plight. There’s a complicated history at work here, and it meant that Hoyt and Caroline had far too many possible suspects to consider. In the middle of all that, they’re navigating turning a fake relationship into something real. I love the author’s alter ego, and I adore that she’s turned her hand to writing us even more romantic suspense.
