About this eBook

In this YA contemporary queer romance from the author of Hot Dog Girl, an openly gay track star falls for a closeted, bisexual teen beauty queen with a penchant for fixing up old cars.

“Earnest, wistful, romantic, and real.” —Casey McQuiston, New York Times bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue

Morgan, an elite track athlete, is forced to transfer high schools late in her senior year after it turns out being queer is against her private Catholic school's code of conduct. There, she meets Ruby, who has two hobbies: tinkering with her baby blue 1970 Ford Torino and competing in local beauty pageants, the latter to live out the dreams of her overbearing mother. The two are drawn to each other and can't deny their growing feelings. But while Morgan--out and proud, and determined to have a fresh start--doesn't want to have to keep their budding relationship a secret, Ruby isn't ready to come out yet. With each girl on a different path toward living her truth, can they go the distance together?

“Beautiful, necessary, and completely irresistible.” —Becky Albertalli, New York Times bestselling author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

I adore this book and it was one of the first WLW books I'd read however I didn't like how utterly intolerable the characters could be. A+ for the brother though! All together it was a great book and it makes me look forward to reading other WLW books.

I bought this book literally yesterday to just pass time at work, but I fell in love with Morgan and Ruby and I couldn't put it down at all. Morgan's gayness was perfectly encapsulated in the descriptions of her emotions and her actions, whilst Ruby being in the closet, confused, and learning to be herself just flowed so naturally. Morgan's experience gives you that high of yes be out be loud and be proud. However, Ruby shows you that not everyone can just be out and really shows the struggles of interpersonal relationships while being queer. The emotions these characters experience felt so real and tangible like they really felt something, and the author does an amazing job showing this. I would highly recommend this book, it brought back so many emotions I've felt during my coming out and post coming out phase that really hit home. I absolutely adored this story and will be keeping a closer eye on this author because if anything is even half as good as this it'll be worth a read.
