This is a new translation from the original Russian manuscript of Gogol's classic 1831 "Sorochinskaya Fair". This edition contains an Afterword by the Translator, a timeline of Gogol's life and works and an Index of Gogol's individual works. "Sorochinskaya Fair" is a story by Gogol set in the writer's native village of Velikiye Sorochintsy, Mirgorod district, Poltava region.
