About this eBook

Have you ever wondered why your prayer language doesn’t sound like real words?

And why is it so repetitive?

Why does it usually start with the same few words or syllables?

Maybe you’ve asked those questions at times. We’ve asked the same questions—and quite a few others—regarding the gifts of tongues and interpretation of tongues. Then we sought the Lord for understanding of these gifts and did our best to operate in them faithfully.

He gave us many insights and answers, and then brought it all together in a book. That was something we never really planned. It just sort of happened.

We aren’t megachurch pastors. We don’t lead multi-national ministries. But we did have a calling from the Lord to write a book and spread a message.

What exactly is that message?

Speaking in tongues and interpreting tongues are powerful gifts with practical use for everyday people like us.

When people operate in these gifts, God blesses the person operating in the gift, but He also blesses the people around them.

Other Questions We Explore in the Book:

What does speaking in tongues feel like emotionally?

What is the purpose of speaking in tongues?

What are the benefits?

How does the gift of interpretation work?

Are biblical tongues earthly languages, or heavenly languages? Or both?

We invite you to explore these questions with us, as you read through our book.

About the author

Kathleen Schwab is a lifelong pursuer of God, a writer and literature teacher, and a wife and mother. She earned a BA in English Literature in 1989, and a Masters in Teaching in 1990, both from Smith College in Massachusetts. She went on to travel all over the United States, teaching in high school and junior colleges, and working from time to time as a midwife's assistant and office manager. After the onset of chronic illness ended her active lifestyle, she decided to start a home based business. These days, she teaches small English classes for homeschool students around her dining room table, and works on writing projects. She gets by with the love and support of her church, which meets weekly in a front yard. She enjoys 19th century novels, all things medieval, and time with her seven companion birds.

Matthew Schwab embraced Jesus back when he was a teenager. In college, he began to have unusual experiences that appeared to be spiritual in nature. The teachings of the Reverend Everett “Terry” L. Fullam, the Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Darien Connecticut and a leader in the charismatic movement, helped Matthew to understand what he was experiencing as well as how to enjoy these experiences more deeply.

Today, Matthew is married to Kathleen, is active in the house church movement, and might describe himself as a God-Geek as he wrote his part of this book based upon his studies and experiences. Matthew holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Amherst College, and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
