Ich gehöre zu den Menschen mit sehr verräterischer Mimik – auch wenn ich nichts sage, sieht mein Gegenüber sofort, in welcher Stimmung ich gerade bin oder was ich von eben Gehörtem halte. Und es gab wahrlich schon so manche Situation, in der ich mir mehr Pokerface-Begabung gewünscht hätte. Dabei gehe das, was unser Gesicht verraten soll, weit über Zustimmung oder Ablehnung hinaus, sagen manche Experten. Emotionen aller Art, Lügen, die sexuelle Orientierung, sogar eine etwaige kriminelle Neigung soll sich darin widerspiegeln. Dementsprechend groß ist das Interesse an professioneller Gesichtserkennung. Mindestens ebenso umfangreich ist die Kritik daran, sowohl an den Methoden als auch den Interpretationen.
