There are many different versions of spider-man, but this is definitely one of the darkest and grittiest of them all. I think that this is a great addition to the Marvel NOIR stories and the spider-man universe. It was engaging and very well paced. I was always intrigued by the conflict and secrecy that lurked every corner of this early 30's take on spider-man. This is a great mini-series and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

FYI, this is the first and origin story in the Spider-Man Noir series. Yeah, these Spider-Man Noir books just don't really do it for me and I think I figured out why. While I'm not against a different interpretation of Spider-Man and his rogue gallery of villains when done in an interesting way or in moderation; Spider-Man Noir doesn't do either of these things. Instead, it sort of copies Spider-Man's abilities and relationships, then just throws out everything else you know from its source material. For instance, in this book, Vulture is a circus freak that strongly resembles Baraka from Mortal Kombat II. He's relegated to being a low-ish level thug whose cannibalism is also used as an intimation tactic for Goblin's organization. He's so far removed from the Vulture that I'm familiar with that he could have been under any other name and it wouldn't have mattered at all. Anyhow, if you're interested in a darker Spider-Man story, this may be for you; it's just not for me.

This is by far my favorite version of Spider-Man. Such a dark story about betrayal, revenge and corruption. This is definitely a great read for people who love Spider-Man but want a darker story as well. Definitely worth the money!
