Cassie tends to be hypersensitive and moody. She needs to learn to not take everything so personally and control her moods, while staying true to her imaginative, compassionate self. The Star Darlings are struggling with their conflicts and issues of trust and friendship. Cassie's Mission: Cassie's Wisher wants to be taken seriously and named Student of the Month. Cassie finds the loud girl abrasive and is having a lot of trouble figuring out how to help her. But luckily, there is a full moon, which makes Cassie even more intuitive than usual. She is able (with the Star Darlings' help) to step into the girl's shoes and come up with a solution, to shine a positive light on her big personality so it is no longer seen as a negative distraction but as an asset.

Ahmet Emuukha Rodan Zappa is the son of late rock musician/composer Frank Zappa and, as he puts it, “My awesome mother, Gail.” Because I’m Your Dad is both a tribute to his happy childhood and a promise to his daughter, Halo. Ahmet grew up with a learning disability and now writes books to help children discover how wonderful reading can be. He and his wife, Shana, are currently collaborating on a new book series, Star Darlings. Through his production company, Monsterfoot Productions, Ahmet has developed several television shows and movies, including “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” Ahmet, Shana, and Halo live in Los Angeles, California under a rainbow with their three fur goblins Sandwich, Luna, and Figgy. Shannon Bonatakis is an illustrator and painter who commonly portrays people as her subject matter. She was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Orlando. Her work has been featured in publications and art galleries across America. Shannon lives in Denver with her husband, Josh, and their adorable puppy, Enid Coleslaw.
