About the author

Dr. Gita Mathai was born in Kerala in 1952. is a graduate of Christian Medical College and Hospital Vellore, India. She is a paediatrician who is still in family practice in Vellore, which she has been running for more than three decades. She is a black belt 3rd dan in Karate, a national level swimmer, hammer throw athelete and a regular on the half marathon circuit. She is married to Dr. Dilip Mathai. They have two children, Kamini and Anith and a grandson Adiv She has written for the punchline for the Economic Times, the Mind and Body health column for the The New Indian Express and articles for Good Housekeeping, Femina, Women’s Era and Patient's Engage. She now writes a regular weekly column called “Your Health ” published every Monday for the Telegraph Kolkata.
