Talon Pack #8, The second to last in this story arc against this Big Bad and his illusions of grandeur. Kam Brentwood the Enforcer for the Talon pack, is the strongest only second to the Alpha and emotionally tied to everyone in the pack like the Omega only not as strong. Kam also knows that his is one of the worse positions to be in for a mate and family, all to often he's seen what can happen to loved ones when your enemies want to hurt you. That's why no matter how much he wants to he can't claim the one woman who can calm his soul. Dhanielle Coburn has always had a way of knowing things she knew something bad was going to happen when she woke up the morning the principal fired her just like she knew she needed to be in Talon Pack territory right after that and just like she knows Kam is her mate. But Dhani's ability to know things isn't just some simple gut reaction there is a bigger mystery in Dhani's familial history. Dhani knows she belongs in the Talon Pack with Kam she finally feels like she finally belongs. Kam and Dhani decide to take it slow and wait until the Big Bad is dealt with before they move forward if they even want to, but the Big Bad takes the decision out of their hands when he focus' his attention on Dhani and the only way to protect her is for Kam to mate her. As always Carrie Ann Ryan is freakin' brilliant. This is an ongoing series so if you are new to the wonderful world of Carrie Ann Ryan you really should start at the beginning. There is this great internal struggle Kam deals with the first part of the book that's angsty and brooding and Dhani starts out having the worst luck that gets worse before it gets better. These books just keep getting better and better and you never know where Ms. Ryan is going to take the story next.

This book wasn't my favorite Talon Pack book. Between the Talon and Redwood pack books, I actually think this might be one of Carrie Ann Ryan's weakest romances. However, the overarching story arc of the series did move quite a bit forward in Strength Enduring. So if you are a Talon fan, you need to read this book. My issues with this book stem from stale internal motivations of both Kameron and Dhani. Kameron knows that Dhani is his mate but he isn't acting on it since it would put her in danger. Instead, he doesn't learn from his sibling's and cousin's mistakes and he chooses to ignore the pull to her. I think we all know how well that probably goes for both Kameron and Dhani. As far as Dhani, she encounters issues in the human world and flees to take refuge with the wolves. Dhani knows full well that they'll take her in. Basically, very little emotional new ground was covered here in comparison to other Ryan books. As well, Dhani's backstory confused me from the very first chapter. I just couldn't understand her family history or the motivations behind everyone's actions. It turned me off of the book almost immediately and, sadly, my motivation to read this book never quite recovered. There are good pieces of this book, though. Carrie Ann Ryan excels at showing true friendship in a book that lacked romantic sizzle. Dhani's girlfriends show her true support when she needs it most and Kameron's quiet enduring friendship with Max was especially poignant. I did appreciate that Ryan fully explored the depth of the fated mates trope in Strength Enduring. Due to the circumstances of Kameron and Dhani's mating, these two relied on the initial stages of their bond and the pull that bond produces more than other Talon (and even Redwood) couples. The fated mates aspect of paranormal romances usually means a more erotic and intense sexual chemistry; this book was in no way tame. Strength Enduring capitalized on the carnal opportunities of fated mates in all sorts of good ways :)

Book 8 in Talon Pack series by Carrie Ann Ryan Kameron is the Talon Pack enforcer and responsible for protecting the whole pack. Dhanielle is a school teacher that has been connected to the Talon Pack by her bff who was turned into a shifter and became a member. Both know that they have something sparking between them but neither can admit it until Dhani confronts Kam but instead of denying it Kam wants more time to find there way but to also try a protect her and pack. You know there’s a secret about Dhanielle but you don’t get to find out what it is until right at end of book but I think has a real opportunity to be developed more and explained because it felt just slightly rushed at the end This book even though has fights and explosions does feel like a slower paced book that develops the relationship well and makes it feel very solid instead of wham bam kind of feel. Really love that book Redwood and Talon Pack are very much intermingled and old characters pop up in this book. Looking forward to more hope Alpha Blade gets what coming to him.
