About this eBook

Down in Whynot, NC, there are three things that hold true: 1) life moves just a little bit slower, 2) family means everything, and 3) you don’t mess with history.

When his family decides to sell a home that’s been part of their history for over a century, Lowe Mancinkus is madder than a hornet. To add insult to injury, the woman who purchased it is some fancy pants, city girl looking to fix it up and sell it off. Doesn’t matter that she’s sexy as hell or that just being near her gets his blood racing like never before. That home belongs to his family, or at least it did until she came to town.

Well that just won’t do, now will it?

From the moment that she laid eyes on the historical home in rural North Carolina, Melinda Rothschild knew Mainer House was something special. The perfect escape from life in New York City, Melinda signed the papers and set to work restoring the house to its natural beauty. That is until an angry Lowe showed up on her doorstep one day. With a scowl on his handsome, chiseled face. And a shotgun in his strong, muscular arms.

Is it getting hot in here?

Melinda’s about to get a lesson on life in the south, but Lowe is about to learn a lesson of his own – this city girl doesn’t back down from a fight.

I am just loving these fun, sweet stories from Juliette Poe (Sawyer Bennett). This fun and lively Mancinkus family just keeps on providing such great entertainment! We met Lowe Mancinkus in Trixie's story. Lowe is not happy the family's Mainer House has been sold to some "Yankee" who buys and flips homes and he wants to make life as hard as possible for this woman. Lowe has already boarded up the doors and windows and then sat on her porch with a gun, but now he has painted all the trim work in neon pink! This last act has landed him in front of Judge Winston Edward Bowe again because "the woman", Melinda Rothschild has pressed charges. After Lowe is ordered to fix what he has done, to the agreement of Melinda "Mely", all hell breaks loose. Mely isn't happy to have to deal with Lowe and by the time they leave the courtroom, Lowe has to spend 250 hours doing work on Mely's house! Oh, it is obvious from day 1 that these two are made for each other. They both have that fighting streak in them. I just adored the things these two did to piss each other off. Of course, this ended up such great chemistry! As Lowe and Mely spend more time together, they start to realize that they both jumped to wrong conclusions about the other and they both start developing feelings for each other. I really enjoyed how this story was told through town gossip. It made for some funny scenes. And I just LOVED Morri! He was too funny for words. The pranks that Lowe and Morri played on each other were priceless. Slowly over time, Lowe and Mely started to fall hard. Lowe was such a sweet, southern gentleman and you couldn't help but fall for him. I just adored the way Mely felt about Lowe's family....it was something she really seemed to long for in her life. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised with what happened with those two and how they go to their happy ending. Never even saw that coming! Overall, this was a wonderful story, with such great characters.

Three things about this book: 1. LOOOOVE Mele and Lowe!!! 2. I want to move to Whynot, North Carolina 3. Juliette Poe is one hel….heck of an author. OK, four things 4. I want to meet a Lowe of my own. Stubborn is a wonderfully, sweet, emotional romance that I just could not put down. Stubborn as a Mule is the 2nd book in the Sex and Sweet Tea series by Juliette Poe the alter sweet ego of Sawyer Bennett. This lady can write, sweet or seriously sexy books! I loved watching Mele and Lowe go from enemies to cautious friends to lovers. I want to reach out an PUNCH Lynette. Sorry Ladies, I will not give anything away in a spoiler. You will have to read this wonderful book for find out why. I want to slap Mele too, for not asking the question…. Darn, I said no spoilers. I LOVED the last text Lowe sent to Mele. I really enjoy reading Ms. Poe’s books. She has a way of drawing her readers into her books whether she is writing as the sweet author, Juliette Poe, or the hot, sexy author, Sawyer Bennett. She creates characters that you cannot help but love or hate. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Poe and this series. I need to say, “Thank you” to Ms. Poe, and Big Dog Books, LLC, for gifting me with an advanced copy of the wonderful book for my honest opinion. Thank you for reading my review. This is just what I needed to read. I loved the first book in this series, but this one is even better. I adored Lowe and Melinda and their story which was funny and heartwarming with a touch of angst. Lowe Mancinkus meets Melinda Rothschild in court. She is suing him for damages on her house. The thing is, it was Lowe's family home until Mely bought it. And he is downright mad it's not apart of his family anymore. So Lowe has to do some time...... at Mainer House, fixing the damages he made. To say they start on the wrong foot is an understatement but the way this couple then fall for each other is so sweet. Lowe is truly swoon worthy. He is a proper southern gentleman that cherishes Mely and it doesn't take long for him to realize she wasn't the up tight New Yorker from court. She definitely has some sass but also an endearing heart. They both appreciate the history of the house and what it means to each other, and work together to restore it to is former glory. We get to meet some more of the townspeople in this book which adds to the overall delight of the book. Lowe's family are a big part of his life, and I can't wait to read more about them. *I received a copy for an honest review.
