It's a great introduction to the first and second books. It explains things well, gives subtle hints to future events, without being too obvious. It also gives much needed backstory and character development to characters who didn't receive much, (Charles Faversham, Rook, obviously Arcturus, as well as a little bit for Zacharias, Josephine, Alice, and Edmund.) Overall pretty solid prequel. I just wish it had been a bit longer. As such I give it four stars.

Since I didn't have enough time to really think about the book as it was done reading in almost less than an hour to me; I'm guessing it will be more of those subconscious dream remembrances of it but so far as I can say ... I can't hardly wait for the altered memories in dreamtime
