Shay and Matt’s romance in Taming the Hot-Shot Doc by Susan Carlisle, is a wonderful, sweet, and enjoyable tale of two doctors, opposite in all aspects, who end up on a journey of self-discovery. Shay is a small town, general practice, primary care doctor running her practice in a clinic while Matt is a big city, university hospital, orthopedic surgery specialist, with the attitude that comes with a high pressure specialty. When Matt arrives to temporarily fill a clinic vacancy, for a few weeks between surgical positions, he gets a refresher course in patient care, as well as a wake-up call on the importance of having a life outside of his job. Although they have different ways of thinking, working, and living as well as having a few times different views on their patient’s care; it does not reduce the emotional feelings they have for each other. Shay has allowed the town’s needs and people to become a large part of her life; even more so since her husband's death three years ago. Matt has no ties anywhere and has even put emotional distance from his family. It is going to take some work, even some compromising, before they can let go of their past and focus on a future; building a life together filled with love and support. Ms. Carlisle wrote a wonderful, flirty, and enjoyable romance that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with emotions, attraction, chemistry, quirky neighbors, and supportive secondary characters, giving Shay and Matt find love and a future together. I highly recommend Taming the Hot-Shot Doc to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
