"The deep impact of partition on public opinion is seen in the book 'The Other Side of Silence' by women, children, dalit, and neglected society, their suffering, torture. The sadness of ordinary people, the torture book is the focal point of the book. Incredible incidents, incidents are in this book. Through the violence of partition, the families who emerged from the outbreak have lost their lives. There are realities. Urvashi Butalia took interviews of many people. How did people migrate in partition, a convoy of refugees, what people had experienced on the way, how many people had to live alive, how many people had to live for the dignity of the people, how many people killed their children and women, and how children came on the road, all this is read in the history book. Also, this book also shows affection and humanity. The homeland, which was rehabilitated by the reputed women, who were abducted by the women of Partition, helped them in many ways. The untested children are brought up, they come from the book of prestigious social activists, who have tried to trace them. All the women, women, children, who suffered injustice, oppression, and their misery, and whatever they had experienced in the partition, have also been read in the book. One of those interviewed by Butalia was their maternal uncle. His name was Rana. His mother is Subhadra Butalia. They also told about their partitioning experience. During partition, Subhadra Butalia and his mother's family split into separation. His brother Rana Lahore remained here and he accepted Muslim religion. Subhadraji said that Rana should also come to India. But he did not listen and took the mother to himself. Therefore, there was a discrepancy between him and other family members; but when Urvashi went to Lahore in search of Mum,  उर्वशी बुटालिया यांचं ‘अदर साईड ऑफ सायलेन्स’ हे पुस्तक वाचलं आणि देशाची फाळणी म्हणजे काय हे समजलं. या पुस्तकात फाळणीचा ज्वलंत इतिहास आहे. यात मन सुन्न करणारे प्रसंग, घटना आहेत. यात काय नाही? फाळणीच्या हिंसाचारातून, उद्रेकातून जी कुटुंब, माणसं होरपळून निघाली त्यांच्या कथा आहेत. हकिकती आहेत. एवढे अत्याचार, हाल अपेष्टा भोगूनसुद्धा ती माणसं शांत आहेत. संयमित जीवन जगताहेत. आम्हाला ही कुटुंबं माहीत नव्हती. उर्वशी बुटालिया यांनी अशा अनेक लोकांच्या मुलाखती घेतल्या. फाळणीत लोकांनी स्थलांतर कसं केलं, निर्वासितांचा काफिला निघाला, (जे निर्वासित चालत भारतात आले आणि भारतातून पाकिस्तानात गेले.) या लोकांना वाटेत काय अनुभव आले, रोगराईनं किती माणसं मुकले, जातीच्या-धर्माच्या प्रतिष्ठेसाठी लोकांनी आपल्याच मुलाबाळांना, बायकांना कसं ठार केलं, मुलं कशी रस्त्यावर आली हा सगळा इतिहास तुम्हाला या पुस्तकात मिळेल. त्याशिवाय तुम्हाला इथे माणुसकी, आपुलकीचं दर्शन घडेल. घरंदारं, प्रतिष्ठित स्त्रियांनी फाळणीतील अपहरण झालेल्या स्त्रियांचं पुनर्वसन केलं, त्यांना अनेक तऱ्हेने मदत केली. अनौरस मुलांचं संगोपन केलं, त्यांना मार्गाला लावण्यासाठी प्रयत्न केले, अशा प्रतिष्ठित, सामाजिक कार्यकत्र्यांचं दर्शन तुम्हाला इथे घडेल.
