About this ebook

Owen

Corporate Raider, Ruthless, Devil in a Three-Piece Suit. As CFO of Steele Conglomerate, I’m all this and worse. My only salvation is a nightly confessional at the altar of Lisa Liu’s bar. So when some d-bag leaves her high and dry, facing single motherhood – I step in—find my absolution.

But Lisa doesn’t need rescuing and doesn’t want a Knight in Shining Armor. She wants all the things I can never give her - commitment, marriage, a family. But the more time I spend with Lisa and her daughter Polly, the more I want a shot at heaven.

Lisa

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and that road runs right through Owen Donahue – my biggest mistake I’ll never regret. He wasn't supposed to be anything more than my favorite regular. But now that he’s pursuing me with the same relentless determination he reserves for corporate takeovers and offering me the moon, I keep saying yes when I should be saying no.

I can never tell Owen what happened the night our drinking game went too far – because the best thing that ever happened to me is the one thing that will make him walk away.

Lisa is one of those characters you wish you could befriend. Her strength and determination to be able to live her life as she sees fit is admirable. She doesn't hold back when it comes to her daughter, Polly. She's fierce, loving and completely devoted. Lisa also knows what she wants and what she deserves and if Owen can't figure his life out, Lisa can't do it for him as much as she would love to have him in her and Polly's lives. This is a very emotional story that touches a nerve. Single motherhood is challenging but, not impossible. Lisa figures it out. She has help from her wealthy friends but, it is all her being a good mom to Polly. Owen is a tough character to like at times. Sure, he's been handling his personal life as best he can but, he has difficulty seeing the everyday details because he's focused on the big picture. And, any man who continually admits he doesn't want a relationship, kids and happily ever after is going to go down hard and kick himself in the process. I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

4 star Review Baby Magnet by T S Layne TS Layne is a new author to me and I am not sure why that is. This was an entertaining read that ticked a number of boxes for me. Owen Donahue is a successful businessman used to getting what and who he wants when he wants it. He is a definitely an alpha male with little time for anything else. Lisa Liu works in a bar and is a single mother to an adorable daughter Polly. She and Owen have met numerous times over the past 5 years but the timing has never been right. All Lisa wants is to find her forever love and make a family something Owen shys away from; however these two have a connection. What will happen when secrets are revealed? There were numerous twists and turns on this journey which was intensely heated and emotional which made for an entertaining read.

I did like the previous Titans of Tech books. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I didn't dislike the book. I feel conflicted. I didn't dislike Owen or Lisa. At the start of the book, I liked both characters. As time went on, I grew to be kind of indifferent to them. I am not sure why exactly. Maybe because whatever connection I felt they were making, they seemed to lose. It seemed like Owen and Lisa's ENTIRE relationship was full of conflict, up to the very end of they book. There was never any smooth sailing or confidence or comfort. The word that comes to mind is tumultuous. Years worth of unsatisfied longing. Owen blew hot and cold. I just didn't feel like Owen or Lisa put enough into the relationship to be able to call it a relationship. Did either of them really know the other one? After Polly was born, I felt like Owen's presence was inconsistent at best. I knew the secret Lisa was holding. The fact that it literally took years to come to light was interesting. It felt uncomfortable the way things flowed after that revelation. It felt more like a HFM (Happy For the Moment) as opposed to a HEA. I would give this 3.5 stars. It held my interest, but I never did get that satisfying feeling of a good HEA. I would definitely say that you should read this book and judge for yourself. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.

About the author

USA Today Bestselling Author TS Layne discovered the Harlequin stacks at her local library when she was twelve, and began a life-long love affair with all things filthy and romantic. She writes Hot Alpha Cowboys and Heroes under the pen name Tessa Layne. Between the two names she’s written 22 books and counting.

TS loves travel and adventure of all kinds, is a voracious reader of romance (the smuttier the better), historical fiction, biographies, travel memoirs and cookbooks.

TS fell in love with her sexy, geeky, musician of a husband faster than the characters in the novels she writes, and divides her time between the Flint Hills and the Rocky Mountains, where she lives with said sexy spouse, two children and two misbehaved cats.

All of her books contain sexy Alpha heroes- some badder than others- smart sassy heroines who don’t pull their punches, and happy endings that just might have you reaching for the tissues.
