Taken by the Cyborg is book 4 in the Galactic Pirate Brides series and though it can be read standalone, you'd be missing quite a bit. So it's this reader's suggestion that you read at least the first book in the series before you pick this up. The male lead is somewhat introduced in that book, and the premise of the series is set. The book is written in third person omniscient from primarily the main two leads perspective. There is a third perspective sprinkled throughout that you'll enjoy too. We finally get to know Doug for real! We've heard about him since book one: he's Lisa twin brother from Rescued by Qaiyaan (book 1), a cyborg not entirely by choice, and a prisoner/slave of Syndicorp for the last several years. This guy has definitely had a tough go of things, but he sure doesn't give up! He's secretly fighting to keep his sister and even Attie safe (at Marlis' behest), even from captivity. He's pretty much accepted that he will never see the outside of his cage again, but fate, and a quirky AI we all love, have a different plan. Attie Swan is Marlis' (from Claimed by Noatak, book 3) sister and a die-hard Syndicorp soldier who starts out the book heartbroken that her sister would betray the corporation she has dedicated her life to. When Marlis' wayward AI Twerp lands in her hands and Doug is determined to destroy it to keep both their sisters safe, she gets introduced to a side of Syndicorp she never knew existed and her faith is shaken. The two make an interesting couple: a dyed in the wool soldier and a born criminal turned lab rat. I absolutely loved the juxtaposition they portrayed. Their love was a bit quick, but their lives are running fast, so it's not that out of the realm of possibility. I enjoyed the interactions with the other cyborgs as well. And Twerp!!! We get more of her! So much more. Love that snarky little AI. If you like your sci-fi with alien pirates, cyborg hackers, crooked corporations, steamy romance, quirky artificial intelligence, and a bit of action, this is a great series for you!

For those of us who love Tamsin Ley books this story about Doug, our cyborg pirate, and Attie Swan, human and sister of Marlis, who he abducted to get the AI (Twerp) who has information on the rebels location was a long... wait for this wonderful story I devoured reading in the Galactic Pirate Brides series. It has wonderful characters, a great plot, steamy romance and action galore in a well written story. This space romp adventure has the evil Syndicorp (From previous books) involved which our couple must overcome and a new list of characters to entice for future books in this very enjoyable series. I volunteer to read and review this ARC by the author.

Doug and Attie are the latest Galactic Pirate Brides couple. Their story is chock full of empathy and heart, and the couple spread it around. The love that they keep for each other is hot and spicy, fraught with a desperate urgency. I advise a fan at times. Oh and the ending is all you could ask for.
