About this ebook

The problem with being the family do-gooder? Sometimes you need to be bad.

Or selfish, or whatever it’s called when I lock lips with Blanka Pavlo in a hospital hallway. I’m nuts about the sexy science goddess, but it’s a dick move to ditch a lifetime of rescue work staying here instead of heading back out on the high seas.

But it turns out donating an organ gets you grounded a while. A few months at my family’s resort means more time with Blanka, and more chances she’ll notice I suck at self-care.

She has a point, and also a plan. That’s how I end up tied to my headboard with balloon animals, adopting a homely cat, and joining Blanka for a bubble bath that’s way steamier than any fully-clothed event ought to be.

It’s almost enough to make a guy forget why he’s spent a lifetime struggling to cancel out the sins of dear ol’ dad.

Almost. Not quite.

Tawna Fenske’s clever rom/coms are a guaranteed giggle-snort. I relish her keen wit and amusingly observant insights and inner musings as much as her well-drawn and charismatic characters. Her engaging stories are always smirk-worthy with irreverent humor and comical antics deftly penned along with the thoughtful insertions of real-world issues and cunning incorporations of unique family drama, personal insecurities, and emotional vulnerabilities. Her characters tend to highly appealing, multifaceted, and exceptionally bright as was the case with the main characters featured in this installment. Blanka was beautiful as well as brilliant with a head full of random facts, which she spouted uncontrollably when anxious. I adored her. Jon was not just a good guy – he was the superhero model of good guys. He was gentle and kind, gave generously from his wallet, and his entire career and much of his free time was spent in exceedingly admirable, selfless, and meaningful service and duty to the less fortunate and a mind toward the greater good. Blanka was all too familiar with these tendencies as her father was of the same mentality, although to the far extreme and to the detriment of his family life, something Blanka had no interest in repeating. I enjoyed their blossoming romance and laughed aloud through their impromptu picnic with the ribald and saucy octogenarian Archie and his mortified relatives.

This is book 6 in the Ponderosa Resort Series and I have loved everyone of them but this one touched my heart in a different way. Jonathan Bracelyn is the most giving man. He is totally devoted to making the world a better place. When he finds himself home for his sisters wedding he goes above and beyond on the giving scale. He also finds himself attracted and totally enamoured with Blanka. She is a beautiful, independent woman and one he can't seem to get out of his head. Blanka is determined to remain single and to do what makes her happy. She has watched her mother follow her famous father around her entire life and watch her mother fade into the background and basically loose herself. She is determined that will not happen to her so when she finds herself attracted to Jonathan she will only allow her heart to get involved to a certain point. That is until he works his way in completely then she is a lost cause for being bitten by the love bug. This story is full of selfless devotion to everyone but themselves. It was heartbreaking at times to feel the deep hurt these characters felt from their childhoods to adulthood. I loved them both and wanted them to find their HEA. I won't give away anything but know it is a great story and so well written and while all the Bracelyn children have their own demons to deal with because of Cort Bracelyn lack of fatherhood abilities I think Jon has suffered the most and thanks to Blanka he finally finds his happy center to focus on self care for a change. I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I loved this book and Highly Recommend It!!!
