Delightfully funny, sweetly charming, emotionally thrilling romantic journey that helps one woman find the family and the destiny she felt but never really knew she had. Rose MacBriar is a video game designer that is creative, wicked smart and not entirely sure why her mother has such an aversion to any talk of magic. Samson Phillips is a fantasy fiction writer and in town to help her with her latest game's story line. What she does not know is he also knows her mothers family and is there to help her reunite with them. Loved this short but highly entertaining adventure.

I really liked how Rose was able to create the rose petals, lights, and colors when she was with Sam. The Karma Cafe was easily conveyed as being magical, along with the eclectically designed apartment. The cauldron in the kitchen was a pretty sweet touch. It was interesting how the Karma Cafe also gave of the sense of comfort. All of the characters were engaging, and I did like them. That is, with the exception of Millicent and Effe, but they served their purpose. I was not sure if Millicent was evil in the magical sense, or just evil because she was not a decent person. Effe's reason for doing what she did became clear later in the book. I felt like Anja, Natalia, and Odette's purpose was to help Rose along in embracing her magic. I have not read books 1 and 2, but I will have to go back and read them. A pretty quick paced magical romance tale with a HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.

A refreshing and a little quirky read that is fun, sweet and satisfying. I hope it will be the first in many installments to the Karma Cafe world. Samson Phillips is a author and has arrived in San Francisco to help Rose MacBriar find her potential, not just with her writing and illustrations, but for her to realize her birthright and possibly love. Rose MacBriar is an accomplished video game designer and is struggling from the pressure to create on demand. She just needs to get this one game designed so she can possibly payback the debt she feels she owes Black Magic Games. She has requested help from Samson, who is more than willing to help her. The Karma Cafe is not only the best bakery and eatery around, but they also serve up a little magic that will help Sam and Rose figure out what they both need to be fulfilled.
