About the author

Franklin A. Wood was born in Jamaica, West Indies, of a multi-cultural, multi-racial family. Being raised in that diverse culture, it was a common practice for his family to gather on their front porch in the evenings to tell stories and play games. Storytelling was a large part of an oral tradition to keep the old Jamaican culture alive. He never forgot his roots and so he continued to pass on this tradition to his daughter, who reveled at his stories during her childhood. He began honing his storytelling skills by using the techniques he had learned as a child. His stories are usually diverse and colorful but always have a moral that teaches children tolerance, love, kindness, compassion and patience. He has a natural ability to engage both children and adults alike with his stories.
