About this ebook

This is to give hope to people who are in a coma. Close-head injury and a spinal cord injury. Where they think there is none. You can come out of it. Maybe not the same way as you were before, but there’s hope where your brain is active. You can make it no matter what the doctors tell you. Just because you have a handicap doesn’t mean you can’t do things. Maybe not the way other people do them, but in your own way. It takes patience and people around you to help you get through it all. You can live a long life if you don’t give up in life. Things happen for that reason. God has a plan for all of us in this world. You may not agree with it, but it happens. Even if you’re handicap, whatever it may be, life goes on. Be happy you’re alive. Just live your life and don’t care what people think about you. Be yourself and be happy. Don’t be sad of what you lost or can’t remember. Just live for today. Start new memories and don’t get mad about the past. Life goes on. Live life to the fullest. I was only supposed to live for five to ten years but I’m still here.

About the author

Teresa Lynn Smith was six years old in 1981 in Texas when she was hit by a car that left her in a coma for six months. It left her with a close-head injury and spinal cord injury. That left her paralyzed for the rest of her life. Teresa was baptized for death. The doctors said, “If she wakes up, she will never be the same again, or do any of the things other kids could do.” Her mom made a promise to God: let her wake up; and whatever condition she is in, her mother will take care of her. Teresa had a collapsed lung and a bolt in her head to stop her brain from swelling up. Her mom never left her side, reading and talking to her. A lot of blood transfusions happened also. With the love of her family, her mom and grandma along with her brothers Larry and Joe, she kept going. When she was out of a coma and just in semicoma, what made her wake up was her brother Joe doing something stupid to make her laugh. Through the years, Teresa had two more surgeries to help her. The doctors are amazed Teresa is still here and never had a bedsore. Teresa was hit by a car that left her in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Life goes on. Just because that happens, you do not give up in life. No matter what you have dealt with in life.
