About this ebook

‘OMG! It literally blew me away. It gripped me from the very first page and I could not stop reading until I finished.’ NetGalley reviewer, 5 stars

From the USA Today bestselling author comes a gripping thriller about a divorce attorney who’s about to discover her own marriage is based on lies when she’s arrested for murder.

Attorney Olivia Sinclair is shocked when she receives an anonymous video showing her husband Richard sleeping with someone else. After years of handling other people’s divorces, she thought she could recognise a marriage in trouble.

She angrily throws Richard out of the home they share. But days later she’s arrested—for the murder of his mistress.

Olivia knows she’s innocent but, with all the evidence pointing at her and an obvious motive, she must find the real killer to clear her name.

She may be used to dealing with messy divorces, but this one will be her most difficult case yet. Olivia’s husband has already betrayed her—but would he set her up for murder?

A gripping and unputdownable thriller for fans of Gillian McAllister, Alafair Burke and A Killer’s Wife.

Happy Birthday, Olivia Sinclair! And what a birthday it is. She receives a text video showing her husband of many years with a much younger woman and it's obvious they are having an affair. It's all she can do to get through the surprise party given by her husband before advising him to pack his stuff and leave, her intent is to get a divorce. The young lady he is dallying with is his secretary. It's only a few days later that detectives show up at her door and promptly arrest her for the murder of her husband's lover. She knows that she's innocent, but all the evidence points to her. The police are happy that they've caught the culprit, so Olivia is going to have to prove her innocence herself. Someone is framing her for murder .... but who? This is the start of what looks like a well-written psychological / crime fiction. Being an attorney, Olivia is a smart woman who regrets that she's been to a man she doesn't really know. What she finds during her search for the truth is that her husband has secrets ... lots of secrets ... but is he the one who killed his pregnant mistress. His business is missing millions of dollars ... is he preparing to make a run? It's a real page turner with twists and turns along the way and plenty of characters to follow without getting lost. Many thanks to the author / HQ Digital / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

There is nothing better then when you finish a book that you absolutely loved, to read in the acknowledgments, that it is the start of a new series. This is the case with The Betrayal. For Divorce Attorney Olivia Sinclair life is good. She is about to retire from her job and has been happily married to Richard for 32 years. But on the day of her 62nd birthday, her whole world comes crashing down, when she is sent an email containing a video of her husband sleeping with another woman. But what’s worse, his mistress turns up dead and all evidence points to Olivia of committing the crime… I really loved Olivia’s character and my heart went out to her. Living a life where she thinks everything is perfect, only to have the rug pulled out from underneath her, is just heartbreaking. The secrets and lies she uncovers about Richard made my skin crawl. A real piece of work who’s only defence when confronted is “I have needs”. Nothing makes my blood boil more! Let me just say if was me in this situation it may not be the mistress’ murder you would be solving… Upon learning that this is going to be a series, I am curious to see what direction it will take given the events that occurred in this one. There is one thing I would love to see happen, which will be clear to you when you read the book. It is definitely something to look forward to and I hope we are not kept waiting to long. I’m hooked already and will be waiting very impatiently. This is the first book I have read from Terry Lynn Thomas and I think it’s clear that it will definitely not be my last. I love her style which I connected with immediately and how she was able to hold me captive from the very first word until the last! I throughly enjoyed how the mystery played out and was on the edge of my seat to see how it was all going to unfold. The Betrayal is a fast paced gripping read that I can not recommend highly enough. It is fraught with so much tension, suspense and with twists and turns to keep you guessing, the pages just turned themselves. I just could not get enough and it was a one sitting read for me. I hope this review makes you want to read this fantastic book. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. It was my absolute pleasure to be able to read and review The Betrayal.
