Delilah and Jock’s story Texan for the Taking by Katherine Gabera, book three in Corbyn Sisters of Last Stand series, was a wonderful, sexy, emotional and enjoyable tale. Delilah Corbyn, the youngest of the sisters, was a classically-trained chef who left the cutthroat celebrity kitchen to return home to Last Stand, Texas. Opening her own restaurant allowed her to make decisions about the food, menu, and atmosphere, without having to answer to the media. She is finally living her dream until the new “it” chef comes to town, opening a restaurant and offering her a challenge. Delilah knows she can handle the heat in the kitchen, but he seems to stir up passions she thought were long buried. Jock Rossi has come a long way in the culinary world, especially for someone who wasn’t formally trained. Now he’s a rising chef with fame, and money within his reach. Hoping to attract investors, he launches his latest restaurant in Last Stand. Yet, when he meets his local competition, Jock’s plans end up off course. Delilah is not only talented, but she’s beautiful and impossible to fool; or forget. With a magnetic attraction, Jock and Delilah are unable to stay away from each other; sharing secret recipes, cooking for each, and heating up the kitchen. Delilah will need to decide if she is strong enough to not lose herself in Jock’s recipes and world or will her love for him win out; without getting burned like with her last boyfriend. Ms. Gabera wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with off the charts, sizzling chemistry, fun adventures, and charming characters giving Delilah and Jock a chance to discover they were meant to be together. I highly recommend Texan for the Taking to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book

Last Stand and Food what is not to like about this book? Welcome back to Last Stand, TX and we get to hop right into the frying pan with chef Delilah Corbyn finally getting her own book! I have been waiting a while to see what would happen should love come her way and boy does love to shoot a dart at her big time. Jock Rossi comes to Last Stand to open up a restaurant himself and while he is not a classically trained chef like our own Delilah, he does have a large tv following and that throws a monkey (bread)wrench into things at the first. I hate that this Corbyn series is over but maybe we will see the Rossi family's books since they are settling down roots in Last Stand. This book has some awesome food ideas and yes be sure you have some wicked whisky on hand as well. So food and romance...Perfect combo!

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This is the final Corbyn Sisters book in Last Stand, Texas. While this is a part of the series, it can be read as a stand-alone. I personally would read all of the books as they are wonderful stories. Delilah Corbyn is the owner and head chef of the Dragonfly restaurant in Last Stand. She studied at the C.I.A (Culinary Institute of America). She also worked under a chef who stole ideas from her and claimed as his own, causing her to return home. Jock Rossi is a famous TV chef and is coming to Last Stand to open up a restaurant. He believes if he fails in the smaller arena then his hard-earning reputation won’t be destroyed. He is more of a fantastic home-style chef who was taught by his half Cajun / half Italian family. This is a book that brings in an element of mystery as to Delilah’s former boss, Drew Miller. This is especially true once Delilah finds out that Drew issued a challenge to Jock for a show show-down. Did Drew issue the challenge as Jock was coming to Last Stand to open the restaurant? Is Jock using Delilah to get that one up on Drew? These and other questions arise and kept me turning the pages to find out! This was a sexy read. It was not overly graphic nor overpowered the story in sex scenes but it was more of a natural progression of the relationship between Delilah and Jock. I would recommend this to anyone over the age of 18. It was also written in my favorite dual POV format. This helped to fully understand the characters. I also hope that the author continues to write in Last Stand (especially with the Rossi family next!) Fingers crossed here!
