Homer Eon Flint was one of the pioneers of science fiction -- publishing science fiction stories in pulp magazines before the term "science fiction" had even been coined. Unfortunately, he died violently -- and mysteriously -- at age 36, leaving behind a grieving widow and three young children. Prior to his shocking end in 1924, Homer's speculative fiction made him a leading contributor to the era's top pulp magazines. Hundreds of thousands of readers thrilled to his tales of life beyond Earth as well as his mysteries, humor, and even horror. Many of the short stories in this volume, plus the short novel "The Planeteer," were unpublished during Homer Eon Flint's lifetime. Growing up in a remote logging/mining community deep in a northern California forest was exactly what Vella Munn s out-of-control imagination needed. There was no TV reception but fortunately the one room schoolhouse had a decent library and new books arrived every week except when winter storms isolated the community. Between all those books and fantasies about brave people pitted against the wilderness, the stage was set for a writing career. She now lives in Oregon surrounded by mountains. Something about the mountains and clean air (except when there s a forest fire) continues to feed her imagination. She figures she ll die happily hunched over a keyboard. If the end comes in summer, she ll be barefoot. Otherwise she ll have on her trusty blue slippers. Vella is married with two sons and four grandchildren. She loathes shopping and, no surprise, cities. Vella Munn can also be found writing under the names Vonna Harper and Dawn Flindt.
