या ई-पुस्तकाविषयी

The Armstrongs were the number one “Riding” family on the Anglo/Scots Border during the 16th century. They were the most destructive of the Border reivers... and can arguably be called Britain’s worst ever family. The book follows two narratives... The first delves into the history of the Armstrongs; origins, where they lived, their society and how they survived across a violent frontier... The second narrative is a gazetteer of family biographies – A who’s who of raiders and marauders based on court cases and criminal trials. Tales of ransom, murder, arson, blackmail and theft are explored, drawing out the family’s story during this unique period.

Derek James StewartBorn a “teri” and raised in Hawick in the Scottish Borders, Derek was educated at Wilton Primary School and Hawick High School – going on to achieve a B.A. Degree in History through the Open University.
He initially trained as an engineer and after a diverse range of jobs going from a beekeepers assistant, movie extra, to tree-planter... Derek found his niche as a museum assistant. He worked in all of the main museums in the Scottish Borders; at Hawick, Jedburgh, Selkirk and Galashiels, helping with exhibitions and educational workshops.
Derek has a passionate interest in history, and was primary in setting up the “Border Clansmen” re-enactment club which specialises in the Border reivers. He is a keen photographer and travels extensively, with an eye to visiting castles and battlefields.
He is a keen hiker, having climbed Mont Blanc, journeyed to Mount Everest base camp, completed the John Muir Trail, followed Hadrian’s Wall, and taken a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
Derek currently works as a researcher at Abbotsford House and Bowhill House as a guide. He writes daily, and contributes articles to the USA magazine “The Highlander.”
This is his first book, with another on the Elliot family in progress.
