The perfect life is as easy to bake as the perfect pie...

Hetty Greengrass is the perfect wife and mother. Spending the last twelve years helping her husband Dan run Sunnybank Farm certainly keeps her busy, but when her daughter Poppy picks her aunt as her inspiration for a school project, Hetty is left full of self-doubt. How did she not become her daughters hero?

Sure her biggest talent - baking deliciously pies - has been limited to charity work and the village fete. But when she signs up to a competition run by Cumbria's Finest to find the very best produce from the region she hopes to make her daughter proud . . . and maybe reclaim something for herself.

Except that her life that had seemed so apple pie perfect is suddenly changing around her... Cracks are starting to appear in her marriage and shocking secrets are beginning to come to light. Now her world is crumbling around her and Hetty has to decide where her priorities really lie...

About the author

Cathy Bramley is a British author of sixteen romance novels, and has sold almost two million copies worldwide. Her books have hit the UK best sellers' list and have been nominated for several awards including the British Book of the Year 2023. Cathy has been a lover of stories since she was a small child and used to beg her mother to take her to the library every week for new books. Many of her passions have come and gone over the years, but her love for story, drama and romance will last a lifetime. Cathy's favourite thing to do is to get comfy with a book in her lap, her dog, Pearl beside her and lose herself in a story. She loves the feel of a paperback, but is equally happy reading on a Kindle or iPad. She also listens to a lot of audiobooks, especially when driving. She reads a wide variety of novels, but there is a special place on her bookshelf for Marian Keyes, Maeve Binchy, Beth O'Leary and Emily Henry. Cathy didn't start writing until 2013, before that she ran a PR and Marketing agency for many years and loved hearing clients talk of how they started their businesses. Those stories must have stayed in her subconscious because she often writes about the sort of companies she used to work with. Her books are about people she would want to be friends with, characters her readers will cheer for. They are often about ordinary women doing extraordinary things. Cathy has two grown up daughters and lives in a small village in countryside in the middle of England. Her house overlooks fields of barley in one direction and horses in the other, and the garden is full of fruit trees: damson; plum; pear and of course, Bramley apples!
