What a wonderful collaborative effort by Shayla Black and Jenna Jacob! It has been years since I have read any of Shayla Black's work, and this was a great book to reintroduced myself to her writing again. I have to admit this one was a bit of a slow starter for me. I was really wanting to get to the meat of the story much more quickly. However, that is why they are authors and I'm not. The build-up they created was perfect and gave a great amount of backstory to pull the book together. You really can feel empathy for Raine when she is processing everything. You want to hate Macen, but just can't. Liam's character seems like a godsend at times, and a hindrance at others. The characters and storyline are very well developed and pull you in. The scorching hot scenes peppered liberally through are well placed and add to the story. This book does have a few dark aspects like BDSM and does end with a cliffhanger, so be prepared for that. *** Free book for an honest review *** This book is so amazing, and I would have expected nothing less from this author. What an emotional and wild roller coast ride. It is everything you want to see in a BDSM novel and so much more. I literally felt each and every emotion that the characters felt. If you truly want an explosive unable to put down novel then this is the book to start a wild ride thru the series. This book shows you the power of a great collaboration. The magic that happens when you bring two AMAZING authors together we get an INCREDIBLE story like this! The way that Ms. Black and Ms. Jacobs built the story was like watching master craftsmen build a house brick by brick. They drew us in to Macen,Paine and Liam's story by slowly pulling us in and letting us get to know the characters. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. I will say that you definitely want to read this book and go along on this journey with Macen,Raine,and Liam you'll be glad that you did. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
