The Comics Journal, which is renowned for its in-depth interviews, comics criticism, and thought-provoking editorials, features Gary Groth in frank and often hilarious discussion with the satirist and children’s book author Tomi Ungerer. Tomi Ungerer (1931-2019) was born in Strasbourg, France. He is a cartoonist known for authoring more than a hundred books, both for children and adults. In 1957, he moved to the United States, where he became well-known for his satirical advertising campaigns. In 1998, he was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Prize. Gary Groth is the co-founder of The Comics Journal and Fantagraphics Books. He lives in Seattle. RJ Casey is a publisher, editor, and writer. He lives in Tacoma, WA. Kristy Valenti is an Eisner-Award winning editor and a writer. She lives in Seattle, Wash.
