Will she survive? This was a very different and very interesting book. I do not read a great deal about the Civil War so some of the facts really caught my attention. The Pinkerton’s have also been an interest of my and their dealing in the west but I knew very little about what they did doing the war. The characters completely captured me and the author gave such fetching and noteworthy descriptions. I was loss within the books pages. I know some of the reviewer did not like how this book ended but for me I think it was a great lead into the next book. I hope I get a chance to read the next book too. I received this book for free from Booksiren and voluntarily chose to review it.

Vanessa Lind loves writing about strong women from the past, especially the ones who’ve got a secret or two. She enjoys heartfelt stories that keep readers turning pages with characters that aren’t easily forgotten.

Vanessa grew up in Illinois but has since migrated to the Pacific Northwest, where she lives near a town rich in history (and breweries). She has a serious book-buying problem, never turns down a cup of tea, and gets her best ideas while walking her boxer dog.
